Nathan’s Patience Official Bio:

After more than two decades away from the recording studio, Detroit-born musician Nathan Mazur, professionally known as Nathan’s Patience, has returned with a striking new project. His three-song EP, The Thoughts We Can’t Tell, released September 2, 2025, is both a homecoming and a fresh beginning for the artist who once lived life on the road with a guitar in hand.

The lead single, “Just For Tonight,” is a standout track that captures the urgency and emotion of fleeting moments. Backed by two equally compelling songs, “My Hypocrisy” and “Inevitable,” the EP offers a snapshot of Mazur’s evolution as both a songwriter and a person. It’s introspective, melodic, and deeply rooted in the authenticity of an artist rediscovering his craft.

For Mazur, the project is more than just new music; it’s a return to the creative pulse that defined much of his early adulthood. “The feeling of being home again very accurately describes my return to writing and recording original music after more than 20 years,” he said.

Mazur’s musical journey began in the early 2000s, when he fronted the Detroit-based pop-punk band Nowadays. Though the group found modest regional success, it was enough to prepare him for a major leap forward. In 2001, Mazur moved to California to join the Los Angeles pop-punk outfit Never Heard of It (NHOI) as a guitarist and backing vocalist.

The move proved pivotal. Touring nationwide with NHOI, Mazur performed alongside some of the biggest names in punk rock, including Bad Religion, New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, and NOFX. He even played every date of the 2002 Warped Tour, a dream gig for a young musician inspired by those very acts.

“I went from playing shows in front of maybe 50 people to headlining The Glass House in Pomona, CA in front of a sold-out crowd of 800-plus people,” Mazur recalled. “Because of how fast it happened, I barely even had time to reflect on it and enjoy it. Next thing I know, we’re jumping in a van and touring the entire United States independently. It was a whirlwind, and an experience I’ll never forget.”

By 2005, Mazur made the difficult choice to step away from music. For nearly 20 years, he shifted his focus toward building a business and raising his four sons, now ages 16, 13, 10, and 8. Music took a backseat, but the creative spark never completely faded.

In early 2025, that spark reignited. With new inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose, Mazur began writing again under the name Nathan’s Patience. His collaboration with producer, engineer, drummer, and multi-instrumentalist John Kowaleski gave shape and depth to the songs that became The Thoughts We Can’t Tell. Kowaleski’s fingerprints are heard across all three tracks, helping Mazur translate his personal reflections into polished recordings.

The EP marks only the beginning of what looks to be a busy new chapter. Mazur and Kowaleski plan additional studio sessions later this year and into 2026. A full band lineup is also in the works, with three additional members set to be announced soon. The band is currently finalizing plans for their debut live performance, set to take place in March of 2026.

For Mazur, the project is less about chasing commercial success and more about reconnecting with the part of himself that thrives on creation. “I’d be humbled if you would follow along with me on this journey of reconnecting myself with my creative side,” he said. “It’s already been a fun ride, and we have no doubt that the fun will continue.”

With The Thoughts We Can’t Tell, Nathan’s Patience delivers not only a personal revival but also a reminder that the passion for music never truly disappears; it just waits patiently to be rediscovered.

Meet The Band:

Nathan Mazur : Guitar / Vocals

After 20 years of being away from writing music, and the music industry in general, I started writing music again in early 2025. Once I connected with producer John Kowaleski, things moved quickly. I couldn’t be more excited to be creating again, and am so excited for my humble return to this entire process.

John Kowaleski : Drums / Vocals

John Kowaleski – Musician, Producer, Songwriter:

John Kowaleski grew up surrounded by music. His father, a longtime radio DJ, began working at W4 Country 106.7 FM in Detroit on the day John was born. From an early age, John was immersed in live performance, even being held as a child by country legends like Willie Nelson and Alabama. Watching Nelson command an audience of thousands lit the spark that made John realize he wanted to dedicate his life to music.
By age eight, John had formed his first band with his two best friends. Their basement rehearsals, held nearly every day, eventually evolved into The Cue-Tips, and later Churchill and Churchill’s Revenge, for which John was the principal songwriter. Through the 1990s and early 2000s, he also played drums in Blindshot and P.T.’s Revenge, contributing not just rhythm but songwriting, including music and lyrics for several tracks on P.T.’s Revenge’s 2024 self-titled album, which he fully produced, engineered, recorded, and mixed.
In addition to punk and alternative projects, John was the principal music writer for the progressive metal band Bat On Fire, co-founding the group with his brother Karlos. Together they created historically researched concept albums such as The Death Of Solomon Scarlett and The Raft Of The Medusa. John also toured internationally as the guitarist for psychobilly band Koffin Kats, performing across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe, while also serving as their producer and engineer during earlier years.
A multi-instrumentalist and certified audio engineer, John continues to balance musicianship, songwriting, and production as a solo artist. Whether releasing hard-hitting social commentary like Affluenza U or lighthearted holiday songs like Santa’s Workshop, his goal remains the same: to create music that makes people feel seen, understood, and less alone.
